Purchased the alarm, for my storm, just shy of 3 yrs this may .Its packed up again so back to the dealer for what will possibly be the last unit I get under the 3 year warranty .
So far the bike has had 2 units fault and this will be the third .

If you're thinking of fitting one and haven't already bought it .I would save the ~$550 AUD plus fitting that they ask .you'd be better off fitting a good brand GPS tracking unit and hammering someones head if and when it goes missing .

so the above mentioned alarm was replaced under warranty. i havent travelled more than 3000 km since it was fitted.( bike has 16 300 km on the clock ) yesterday I went for a ride and the left hand indicators stopped working. checked the fuses and the alarm/instruments 10 amp fuse was blown. Bypassed the alarm and replaced the fuse but still no left indicators. RHS works fine. with the bike stationary the right indicators work. when the indicator is switched to the lhs it doesnt work and the instrument panel dims momentarily. If I try to indicate right straight away the RHS doesnt work until about 30 seconds later. The 10 amp fuse is ok until I refit the alarm plug and try to disarm the alarm ,at this stage it blows the fuse again. Can anyone tell me where the flasher signal comes from ?Is it built into the instrument cluster or is it from the ECU ? It isnt in the workshop or owners manuals. Im thinking the alarm has faulted again and as it supplies both indicators it has damaged something else at the same time.

If I am not mistaking the signal flasher is built into the instrument cluster. Are you sure you don't have a faulty indicator bulb or wire?I guess maybe the blown fuse may have affected something else in the alarm passage way? I once had a faulty led indicator broken wire, which acted the same way when switched left to right.
Good luck I am sure you will get more info from other members.
The blown fuse problem is baffling

After a little thinking and a bit of further investigation I believe there is an auto- resetting overload built into the indicator circuitry inside the instrument cluster.
There was a short circuit in the LHS indicator wiring. The indicators are fed from the instruments/alarm fuse but due to the circuitry in the instrument unit the fuse was being protected. However, when the alarm is actiivated it flashes both indicators, the connection to the indicators is after the switch block and therefore after the instrument cluster. This is the reason the fuse was blowing when the alarm was activated. The alarm was then faulting as the power feed was cut off and it was defaulting back to the battery back up inside the alarm which deletes the alarm dis arm function causing it to trigger when the ignition is turned on.
Im hoping this explanation is easy enough to understand and this post may help a fellow T/bird owner in the future.

Very happy to have solved the problem with only some insulation tape and investigation. The day you stop learning ,you die.
